Trunki suitcase review

If you’re travelling through an airport this summer you will more than likely come across a Trunki. The Dragon’s Den reject seems to have come of age this year and with good reason.

Having dragged my own daughter through the airport on a bright pink Trunki, the concept kind of clicked in my head. It quite simply converges 3 common problems that you will encounter with children in an environment like an airport. These are:

1. Carrying enough toys and books to keep your kids occupied.

2. Having somewhere for your kids to sit during long waits in lengthy cues.

3. Transporting your kids from A to B without wrenching your back.

For the first time, the Trunki is a product that deals with all three issues:

Firstly, there’s plenty of room inside for toys, drinks, sweets, books and anything else you can think of. This saves you having to lug all this round in your own hand luggage.

Secondly, the Trunki incorporates a contoured top that makes it easy for a child to sit on top. There are also ears for holding onto.

Thirdly, I happily pulled my two year old child though the airport whilst she enjoyed the ride on her Trunki.

Overall, I went from a sceptic to a complete convert.

However, I do have one criticism. The locks on each side of the case are difficult to operate (even a 4-5 year old would struggle in my view). They also appear rather flimsy i.e a couple of knocks and they might sheer off or break. Having said that, my daughters Trunki is still in tact - so they might be stronger than they look.
