At a cost of £47m ($94m) The Charles is likely to become one of the most sought after hotels in Munich. Deliciously, luxurious features include von Lenbach originals on the walls, Bavarian limestone floors and Nymphenburg porcelain situated in various places.

The Rocco Forte web site says:

“Perfectly situated in the centre of Munich, The Charles Hotel, the latest five-star hotel from The Rocco Forte Collection, will open in October 2007 and promises to be one of the finest hotel in this historic and cosmopolitan Bavarian city. The design will be overseen by Olga Polizzi, The Rocco Forte Collection’s Director of Design. The hotel will have its own personality and will reflect its location with the use of original paintings by Munich’s celebrated 19th century artist Franz von Lenbach in the bedrooms. Franz von Lenbach paintings cannot only be found in the bedrooms but also Lobby and other public areas. This luxury Munich hotel will be custom built and will have all the hallmarks of a Rocco Forte Hotel: individual design, elegant comfort, excellent levels of service, up-to-date corporate facilities and a top quality health club.

The Charles Hotel’s location in the heart of Munich, close to the historic square of Königsplatz, the old town and the superb shopping area, will suit both business and leisure guests staying in Munich, yet its situation in the Botanischer Garten ( Old Botanical Gardens) will mean peace and tranquillity away from the city’s bustle.”

Double rooms start from £210 ($420) per night.
