The advent of global warming is really making the selection of that skiing holiday quite tricky.

Will you get snow? Is the perennial question come ski season.

Well some bright spark at Ski Operator Crystal Ski has decided to offer clients a 50% refund on their money if there’s no snow. Great idea - but what’s the catch?

This offer is only applicable to holidays booked before June 16 and only on 139 European resorts during December and January. They say “at least half your resorts skiing will be open, or we’ll give you half your money back.”

It’s an interesting offer and it’s better to have some cover than none at all. But the chances of Crystal paying out seem virtually nil as apparently most of the resorts enjoy plenty of snow guns. Also, and as you might expect the 139 resorts within the deal are almost entirely located at higher altitudes where snowfall remains historically plentiful.

I guess the interesting point out of all this is that ski operators are desperately trying to stir up interest after a very indifferent season. Who can blame them!
