Iceland The Land Of Bananas!

Posted by Peter Brady on Mon 24th April 2006 at 06:59 PM, Filed in Alternative Destinations

One of my favourite destinations is Iceland. It may not appeal to everybody but it certainly is different. The people are tremendously friendly, the landscape is pretty much unlike anything you will have seen before, the food is great and believe it or not they even grow a proportion of their own bananas!

The only problem is that it’s expensive.

If you can take the hit on your bank balance Iceland really is an unusual destination and one you’ll never forget.

Places you must visit are the:

1. Perlan Restaurant in Reykjavik - which revolves. Doesn’t look too hot in the daylight but at night comes into it’s own.

2. Blue Lagoon - a geothermal spa for bathing. Quite honestly your skin will never feel so good after a couple of hours soaking in very warm water caked in silicate mud.

Blue Lagoon

There are many other locations but these are the two I would recommend as must see places.
