Eos Airlines the premium class airline flying between New York and London has filed for protection from it’s creditors under chapter 11 federal bankruptcy laws. Operations have been wound down.

The carrier needed a cash injection which was not forthcoming from the markets - attributed to “today’s extremely challenging economic and credit environment”.

The company said “it was close to agreeing on an investment that would have enabled its operations to turn profitable in 2009, but some issues arose that we could not overcome.”
