For the very best apartments in Aspen look no further than Aspen Meadows. Built in 1955 the apartments include stunning floor to ceiling windows filled with wonderful mountain scenery.

The Aspen Meadows web site says:

Aspen Meadows Resort is surrounded by the Colorado Rockies and minutes from historic, chic downtown Aspen. With state-of-the-art conference facilities and a variety of recreational activities including whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and hot air ballooning. Aspen Meadows is the ideal location to plan your next meeting or vacation. Home of The Aspen Institute, the resort is renowned for attracting heads of state, diplomats, business leaders, educators, artists, and activists from the world stage to its programs, conferences and seminars year round.

Great for all year round accommodation.  Reasonably priced too, with rooms costing around £150 ($300) per night in peak ski season.

In terms of hotels in Aspen you should give serious consideration to Hotel Lenado. A small, friendly boutique hotel with a cosy 19 rooms. The location is close to the centre of Aspen so great for night life and restaurants. Also perfectly positioned for the slopes.

The decor of the hotel is contemporary, stylish and very sumptuous. The lounge is open plan with a stunning floor to ceiling fireplace and a small bar. The roof top incorporates an amazing hot tub with beautiful views over Aspen Mountain.

The rooms are individually decorated and incorporate four poster hickory or carved applewood beds, bathrobes and TV’s. For the luxury focused there are Deluxe Smuggler rooms which include DVD’s, woodburning stoves, mini bars, private balconies and hot tubs…

I would say that the Lenado is uber luxurious, unpretentious and very homely. During ski season, double bedrooms go for £170 ($320) per night.
