According to those in the know, high end holidays are moving into “Extreme Luxury”. Sounds like an oxymoron,  but maybe not. The Other Side situated in Neiden is due to open in December as a “high concept” travel experience, intended to encapsulate luxury and extreme in the one package.

The skiing season is virtually upon us and personally I can’t wait to hit the slopes. But for the more adventurous there are things to do outside the realms of skiing and snowboarding.

How about paragliding in Verbier Switzerland, certainly when the slopes get a little crowded I can’t think of a better way of getting away from the hustle bustle!

Lumped in to the category of extreme sports, paragliding is often overlooked by many. However, it can be a wonderfully liberating experience and surprisingly easy to do. Plus you get see the local scenery from a completely new perspective.

Doing something truly original in your life, something that none of your friends have even considered can be a tremendously liberating experience. Forget Florida, forget Paris and start thinking about Great White Shark cage diving in South Africa.

Kite surfing is one of the new ilk of extreme sports to hit the scene in recent years. It’s cool and it’s fun, but where can you do it?

If you’re willing to combine a holiday with some extreme action then you could visit Fuerteventura (the second largest island in the Canaries), located some 15 Kilometres south of Lanzarote.

According to Extreme Holidays:

“The island’s surprising natural qualities, untouched until a few years ago, are a recently discovered treasure. Fuerteventura is an oasis of beaches and sun. It is one of the driest of the Canarian Islands, which is one of the main reasons for the island’s limited economic growth. With air temperatures ranging from 21°C to 28°C, and average water temperatures ranging from 19’C to 22’C, it’s summer all year round!”

Sounds cool!
