Ever fancied trying your hand at one of those dangerous looking winter Olympic Sports? If you have, a Bobsledding trip to Utah is a must.

For a reasonable $200 ($108) you can slip your way upto 130 km/h with an experienced driver. Just don’t expect to take any part in actually controlling the thing!

Apparently it makes a roller coaster ride seem pretty tame. It’s hardly surprising when you’re likely to be experiencing 4 G’s of force and the equivalent of a 40-storey drop in less than a minute on a four person public passenger bobsled ride.  An experienced driver takes three passengers down the entire length of the Olympic bobsled track. Participants must be 16 years of age and older.

Awesome!!!

Having been to Alaaka several times myself I can testify to the brutal beauty of the place. It really is like no where else on our planet. However, due to the often unpredictable weather conditions it has never crossed my mind that the rugged coast line would lend itself particularly well to surfing. Not so according to this article on Outside Online

Although appropriately entitled “The Coldest Ride” the article certainly shines some light on Fall in Yakutat, Alaska, which usually means camouflage, salmon, and the sweetest swells on the far north shore.

According to the article:

By all accounts the Great Wall of China is well worth a visit. But how about combining a visit to one of the greatest feats of human engineering with some quality rest and relaxation. Well, now it’s possible with the recent opening of the very selubrious Anantara Spa.

Set amid the peaceful and green mountains near the Shuiguan section of the Great Wall, the 8 square kilometer development is a private collection of contemporary architecture which is fast gaining a reputation for exclusivity and high quality spa treatments. With Renee Zellweger paying a recent visit, it’s likely that this place is going to become very popular very quickly.

Rooms can be had for as little as £100 ($185) per night and treatments from £50 ($90).

If you have ever aspired to spend significant periods of time under the sea then the Jules Undersea Lodge could be for you. Personally, I really couldn’t think of anything worse but it’s an interesting alternative from your run of the mill accommodation!

The only thing that might draw me to staying here would be the possibility of seeing some really spectacular sea life and with this structure acting as an artificial reef that sounds like a distinct possibility.

The lodge say:

“When guests visit Jules’ Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, Florida, they discover that the name is no marketing gimmick. Just to enter the Lodge, one must actually scuba dive 21 feet beneath the surface of the sea. Jules’ really is underwater. Diving through the tropical mangrove habitat of the Emerald Lagoon and approaching the world’s only underwater hotel is quite an experience. Even from the outside, Jules’ big 42 inch round windows cast a warm invitation to come in and stay a while, relax and get to know the underwater world that so few of us have even visited.

Entering through an opening in the bottom of the habitat, the feeling is much like discovering a secret underwater clubhouse. The cottage sized building isn’t short on creature comforts: hot showers, a well stocked kitchen (complete with refrigerator and microwave), books, music, and video movies. And of course there are cozy beds, where guests snuggle up and watch the fish visit the windows of their favorite underwater “terrarium”. Jules’ Undersea Lodge manages to reach a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure.”

There are obviously some high profile commercial projects to offer private space flights to civilians e.g Virgin Galactic. But, quite frankly if you want to do it properly, you really need to go with Space Adventures Ltd who shot the very first space tourist Dennis Tito into orbit.

Whether your desire is to conduct science experiments, achieve what few have done before or simply enjoy the feeling of weightlessness while taking in the spectacular view, Space Adventures is your opportunity to discover one of life’s greatest secrets: the wonders of space.

Seize the moment, push yourself farther and higher than ever before, and join one of the most elite groups of individuals in history.”

Reasons you might enroll in Space Adventures’ spaceflight programs:
