We’ve all done it. In a mad panic you’ve forgotten something, or broken something, or just plain ruined your holiday through your own incompetence!
But what are the top ways to trash that dream holiday. Here’s my straw poll results.
1. Realising your passport is out of date when you get to the airport.
2. Having an accident on holiday without medical cover.
3. Realising that the airline have overbooked and you’re going to have to sleep over at the airport.
4. Luggage getting lost in transit.
5. Any form of illness flaring up on holiday - in particular appendicitis or ear infections.
6. Finding out your luxury hotel is a building site.
7. Getting robbed.
8. Food poisoning.
9. Realising at the end of the holiday that your swimsuit goes completely transparent!
10. This is an interesting one - Getting into an argument over beach towels on sun loungers. More common than you might think.

This invention is a really cool play on the humble beach umbrella. Harnessing all those rays for electrical energy can now be achieved with the Sun~brella. Great idea! Wish I’d thought of it. This thing could come in really handy on that isolated, idyllic desert island you might have been dreaming about.

Described on YankoDesign as:
“Like a regular beach umbrella, except that it is a source of energy and also an outlet to power small appliances. Because of these alternate uses, the Sun~brella can be beneficial to multiple users. The 6 foot diameter solar panel that uses Photovoltaics can produce a peak output of 282 watts. (For example: a standard bathroom fan takes 18 watts of energy to run. A standard CD/cassette player takes 30 watts. An Engel 65 Refrigerator takes 43.2 watts to be powered). Along with a plug in for small appliances, it also comes with a built in fan for additional cooling on hotter days. The parts are all detachable for easy flat storage, and the spheral solar cells used for the panel are durable, light, and flexible. For the beach, you can also use the drill anchor for an easier set up. The Sun~brella was designed for personal (Beach goers, Porsches) and for commercial (Resorts, Street Vendors, and Restaurant Patios) use.”
A dream of mine, right from my early childhood has been to see a Blue Whale in the wild. These beautiful mammals are utterly vast and regarded to be the largest creatures to have ever graced the planet. Their hearts alone are the size of a reasonably sized car!

It was my belief that there numbers had dwindled to such an extent that your chances of seeing one were very slim indeed. However, BigAnimals.com claim to offer potential Blue Whale encounters. Admittedly there can never be any guarantees with this sort of thing but even the possibility is tantalising.
BigAnimals.com say on their site:

We took a look at a pair of cool, iWood sunglasses yesterday and whilst there maybe some question marks over the durability, I personally love them.
Take a look at this pair which are just really funky.

These are crafted out of Teak.
Greenhop retail them for $350 and say:
“What could be cooler than an pair of hand made, painstakingly crafted, real wood (sustainable harvested wood) sunglasses? Not much that we can find, so we are offering them here.”

Check out these really cool, timber framed sunglasses. Got to be a bit more eco friendly than their plastic cousins. Wonder if they deteriorate rapido when exposed to water and copious amounts of sunlight?

Greenloop describe them as:
“A pair of iWood ecodesign wooden sunglasses is designed with the environment in mind, using the highest quality, eco-sustainable, exotic wood veneer. All iWood ecodesign products are individually crafted with the most modern techniques combined with old world craftsmanship to insure all products adhere to the highest standards.”
Retailing for around $350 their kinda funky but pricey.
