This autumn, Basel’s Fondation Beyeler houses a very special exhibition devoted to the many vistas of Venice, as depicted in masterpieces by Canaletto, Turner and Renoir, among others.
Monet will take centre stage, with a dozen of the 36 paintings he produced during his time there in 1908 going on public display for the first time in almost a century.

Duck out to Paris for van Dyck – two-night breaks from £155 pp with VFB Holidays
For the first time ever in France, this October a major exhibition is to be devoted to the Flemish portrait artist, Antoon van Dyck, at the small but prestigious Musee Jacquemart-Andre.

Eurochocolate (18-26 October) promises a week of chocolate, choons and chomping in the beautiful medieval city of Perugia.
