Poor snow fall in many of Europes ski destinations last year has meant many operators going on the offensive to attract customers. They have a real job on there hands!

One of the best deals we’ve spotted is with Crystal Ski who are hoping to entice skiers back to European destinations with a £200 discount off each booking made before September 30th 2007.

This discount is available on all new full price bookings, seven night European packages using a charter flight or train departing in December 2007 or January 2008.

Sounds like a great bargain - but always check the small print.

South Africa is undoubtedly a beautiful country, but concerns over the security situation seem to persist.

The latest crime hot spot raising eyebrows is the iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town. Recent figures suggest that tourists are falling victim to armed robbery on an almost daily basis.

The 85 square miles of Table Mountain wilderness have become a honey pot for armed criminals targeting vulnerable tourists. The problem has escalated so much in recent months that there have been calls to send in troops. Unfortunately, the rather weak reponse from the “provincial minister of safety” has been to dismiss the possibility of troop assistance and has instead recommended that “tourists should visit Table Mountain in groups. Choosing to climb alone makes you vulnerable to opportunistic muggings”.

What a pathetic response….  Are armed robbers really going to worry whether you’re in a group of 5 or 20.

An unquoted local source is said to have recommended staying off the mountain completely!
